DAY 2 & 3: TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

Depart for Tarangire National Park, game viewing as you travel to your tented camp located on the eastern side of the Park. After lunch in camp you will enter the Park again for an afternoon of game viewing. Tarangire National Park is the most southern of the accessible parks of Northern Tanzania. Named after River Tarangire, the park covers an area of 1600 square miles. Much of the park is open grassy savannah, dotted with splendid Baobab trees, but there are also areas of swamp in the south. The park is spectacular in the dry season when many of the migratory wildlife species return to the permanent waters of the river. This spectacle sees more than 1 million wildebeest, 200,000 zebras and 300,000 Thomson's gazelles trek to new grazing grounds. An optional night game drive is available tonight for those who would like to participate. The following morning you will have a guided game walk before your game drives within the Park. An optional hot air balloon ride is also available.

DAY 4: LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK

Travel to Lake Manyara National Park for game viewing with a picnic lunch to enjoy in the park at midday. The Park is famous for its tree-climbing lion and five different eco-systems. Baboon, monkey, elephant, gazelle, antelope, giraffe, lion, and buffalo are just some of the animal species you might observe. After game viewing you have the opportunity to visit the Maasai Women's coop, and the local village of Mto wa Mbu before checking into your lodge.

DAY 5: NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA AND CRATER

This morning you travel up the Rift Valley Escarpment Wall (stopping for the views) before traveling on to the town of Karatu. Here you will have the opportunity to hike to the elephant caves and waterfall before lunch at the famous Gibb's Farm Country Lodge. After lunch enter the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Crater for a hike along the rim of the sunken caldera.

DAY 6: NGORONGORO CRATER

Early this morning you will drop down onto the Crater floor for a full day of game viewing with picnic lunch. This World Heritage Site contains the largest concentration of wildlife to be found on the African Continent – over 20,000 at all times. It is also home to the endangered black rhino where they have found a safe haven. Buffaloes, wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, and hartebeests graze the grassland, while elephants roam the wooded areas, and hippos gather in marshes and ponds. Lions, spotted hyenas, and golden and black-backed jackals are easy to find, but servals and cheetahs are sighted rarely. Resident ostriches, crowned cranes, and kori bustards are joined seasonally by migrant flocks of white and Abdim's storks.

DAY 7 & 8: OL'DUVAI GORGE & SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

Travel through the remaining Conservation area game viewing en route, with a stop at Ol'duvai Gorge, the archeological site where the Leakey's discovered Nutcracker Man, giving new meaning to the origins of mankind. You will enter the world famous Serengeti National Park at Naabi Hill Gate. From here it is the short grass plains and game viewing as you travel to your lodge for these two nights.

DAY 9 & 10: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

These next two days will each be spent in a different area within this vast and majestic Park. Dependent on time of year you travel, it will be the north central, far northern or Western Corridor of the Park. Enjoy morning and afternoon game viewings both days. The most famous feature of the Serengeti is the annual wildebeest migration. This spectacle sees more than 1 million wildebeest, 200,000 zebras and 300,000 Thomson's gazelles trek to new grazing grounds. Also, here is a chance to see all of the "Big Five" game (lion, African elephant, cape buffalo, leopard, and rhinoceros).

After morning game viewing, you will transfer to the nearby airstrip for your flight back to Arusha. Here you will be met at the local bush airport, have lunch in town with time for last minute shopping before your transfer to Mt. Kilimanjaro Airport where you will have a day use room to prepare for travel at KIA Lodge next door. At the proper time you will have a lodge shuttle over to the departure lounge to check in for your flight out.
