DAY 1: ARRIVE IN TANZANIA

Arrive Mt. Kilimanjaro International Airport – after clearing customs and immigration procedures, you will be met in arrivals and transfer to your lodge.

DAY 2: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

At the designated time you transfer to the local Arusha Airport and fly Arusha/Seronera Airstrip in Serengeti National Park – upon arrival you will be met by your private driver/guide, game viewing en route to your lodge. After lunch and check-in, you will have an afternoon game drive, arriving back to your lodge in time for dinner.

DAY 3 & 4: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

These two days will be spent with morning and afternoon game drives in Serengeti, hopefully witnessing the Great Migration, one of the 10 natural wonders of the world with more than 1 million wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle migrating to greener pastures. Your lodge is very centrally located so you will have the opportunity to visit many areas within this, the largest of National Parks in the Northern safari circuit.

DAY 5: OL'DUVAI GORGE

Game drive south and out of Serengeti through the short grass plains, with a stop at the official entrance to Serengeti – Naabi Hill Gate. Here you are allowed to get out and walk around, but be cautious as wildlife does have the right-of-way. You will then stop for a visit at Ol'duvai Gorge, the archeological site where the Leakey's discovered Nutcracker Man, giving new meaning to the origins of mankind. There are many Maasai villages in the area between Serengeti and the Crater so if you see one you would like to visit, just alert your guide and he will make arrangements to stop. You will end the day along the rim of the World Heritage Site Ngorongoro Crater.

DAY 6: NGORONGORO CRATER

Early this morning you will drop down onto the Ngorongoro Crater for 5 - 6 hours of game viewing. This sunken caldera contains the largest concentration of wildlife to be found on the African Continent – over 20,000 at all times. After departing the Crater, you will then travel south to Lake Eyasi, home to the original Bushmen of the Datoga and Hadzabe tribes.

DAY 7: HADZABE

If you so desire you are allowed to go hunting and gathering with the Hadzabe this morning as they go out with bow and arrow and collect wild fruits and tubers with which to feed their families. You are also welcomed to the homes (boma) of the Datoga as well as their blacksmithing shop. As time allows you can canoe on the lake (water levels permitting), walk along the shore of the lake, swim in the pool at your camp, or just relax and enjoy the area.

DAY 8: LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK

This morning you depart for the Rift Valley and a short game drive at Lake Manyara National Park before you continue on to Tarangire National Park, game viewing en route through the park to your camp located just outside the eastern boundary.

DAY 9: TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

Just after an early breakfast you will have a guided game walk this morning lasting about 1 to 2 hours. Then you will go into Tarangire for morning and afternoon game drives. This afternoon you return to camp for dinner before your night game drive for the opportunity to witness the nocturnal wildlife.

DAY 10: CULTURAL HERITAGE CENTER

This morning you will have a final game drive in Tarangire and then return to Arusha arriving in time for lunch. The afternoon will be at leisure to walk around town, visit the Cultural Heritage Center for shopping or just rest and relax in the pool at the hotel.

DAY 11: MAHALE MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK

This morning you will be transferred back to Arusha Airport and fly Arusha/Mahale where you are met at the airstrip and a boat transfer to reach your lodge. Upon arrival you will have a tour and briefing on available activities so your time here can be planned. While Mahale Mountains National Park is a famous chimpanzee tracking destination, a cruise on Lake Tanganyika in the park is also a must for bird lovers: at least 230 bird species have been recorded. Lake Tanganyika is the world's largest, longest, second-deepest lake, and the waters seem almost impossibly clear. About 250 species of fish live in the lake, and most of these are endemic, living nowhere else in the world. Afternoon activities include swimming, kayaking, or snorkeling.

DAY 12 & 13: MAHALE MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK

These two days will be spent with game activities in Mahale. Each morning you can go chimp tracking, while after lunch the afternoons will be spent with boat safaris, kayaking, snorkeling or forest hikes – your choice!

DAY 14: ARUSHA

After breakfast, you will boat transfer back to the airstrip, carrying a packed lunch, and you fly to Mahale/Arusha – you will be met on arrival and transfer to town for dinner and overnight.

DAY 15: RETURN TO U.S.

This morning is at your leisure, with shopping opportunities if desired. There is a local crafts market within walking distance of your hotel. After lunch, you will then transfer to a lodge near the airport for a day room to prepare for travel and departure from Mt. Kilimanjaro airport tonight.
